Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz (35-2, 17 KOs) faces Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi (26-3, 5 KOs) in a 12-round junior welterweight bout Saturday at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT IC Pavillion in Chicago on HBO's Boxing After Dark. The bout, staged by Golden Boy Promotions in association with DiBella Entertainment.
It will be a rematch to a close, action-packed Aug. 22 bout at the Toyota Center in which Diaz won a unanimous, albeit controversial decision.
“This time around I'm not going to let him outwork me in the first fight in the first few rounds,” Diaz said. “I believe (the scoring in) some of the rounds were questionable because he threw a lot more punches than I did. He threw a lot of punches but didn't land at a very high percentage. I'm not going to let him take the lead. I'm going to be the one who takes the lead, be the guy who puts pressure and leave no doubt.”
