“This time around I'm not going to let him outwork me in the first fight in the first few rounds,” Diaz said. “I believe (the scoring in) some of the rounds were questionable because he threw a lot more punches than I did. He threw a lot of punches but didn't land at a very high percentage. I'm not going to let him take the lead. I'm going to be the one who takes the lead, be the guy who puts pressure and leave no doubt.”

The first round of the Super Six tournament comes to a close this Saturday on Showtime when Mikkel Kessler takes on Andre Ward. It’s the most intriguing of all the first round matchups and the action begins at 10 pm ET. Read on for a preview and staff picks for the fight.

It is a match up that perhaps can be labeled the favorite vs. the "sleeper" when the first stage of the Super Six World Boxing Classic concludes on November 21 with a battle between WBA Champion Mikkel Kessler and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward.

Mikkel Kessler (42-1, 32 KOs), of Denmark, and Andre Ward (20-0, 13 KOs), of Oakland, Calif., and their promoters will participate in an international media conference call to discuss their Super Six World Boxing Classic Group Stage 1 bout.

Andre Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) followed up that effort against North Dakota's 34-year-old Shelby Pudwill (22-4, nine KOs), forcing the fight to be stopped at 2:16 of the third round before an enthusiastic crowd at the Pechange Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA.

The fight is a scheduled 12-rounder for Kessler’s WBA 168-pound title, on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland and live on SHOWTIME® (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).
